Gerald Green participates in the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest

Sure, Gerald Green only played 29 games with the Wolves, but in those 29 games he was picked to compete in the Slam Dunk competition. In fact, Green was defending his title as he won the year before when he was a member of the Boston Celtics.

If it were up to me, Green would be in the Dunk contest every single year, as he has (or at least, had) one of the highest vertical leaps of anyone in the NBA. This was showcased when he tried to dunk a ball TWICE a few years back. Anyway, Green has never been short of creativity when it comes to dunking, and that was showcased with his memorable “Birthday Cake” dunk.

He also windmilled without any shoes on, which was shrugged off by the commentators and judges, but I don’t think we realize how hard that is. I think Green may have gotten the short end of the stick in this competition, as he lost to Dwight Howard.

Lastly, this video should accurately show the state of the Timberwolves at the time, as Rashad McCants was the best option for throwing lobs…
