Patrick Beverly vs. Ricky Rubio vs. Reggie Jackson

When it comes to these three point guards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets, respectively, the Timberwolves actually have the best all-around point guard.

Patrick Beverly is a defensive guard. He is not a player that is going to wow you with bal-handling, assists, or points, but he will lock-up many guards around the league. Beverly averages 9.9 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Reggie Jackson is the opposite of Beverly — Jackson is a great scorer. He averages 18.8 points per game and 6.2 assist per game, but it’s a different story on the defensive end of the floor.

"“If you look at his numbers over the last third of the year, he’s going to be top-seven or eight point guard in the league over that time,” Van Gundy said. “Defensively, he’s still got a long, long way to go, but on the offensive end of the floor, I mean, he can certainly score and he can create shots for other people.”"

Despite the fact that the Pistons and Rockets won more games, Rubio is the best all-around point guard out of these three. Jackson is a highly efficient scorer, but can’t play defense. Beverly is a top defensive point guard, but can’t score or get his teammates involved.

Rubio on the other hand averages 10.1 points per game. Yes, it’s only .2 points per game then Beverly, but he also averages 8.6 assists per game. Way more than Beverly. Rubio is also one of the top defensive guards in the league and, just to throw it out there, rebounds better than these players as well, averaging 4.3 boards a game.
