Gerald Green was supposed to be the second high-ceiling piece acquired by McHale in this deal. And truthfully, he’s had the second-best career of the lot of players, after Big Al. Another 22 year-old at the time, he was a pogo-stick who had shot three-pointers at a 36.8 percent clip in Boston the previous season.

Defense and the desire to improve were not high on Green’s list of qualities back then, however, and after appearing in the dunk contest for the Wolves in 2008, Green was shipped to Houston.

After a poor 2008-09 in Dallas, Green spent two years playing overseas before resurfacing as a D-League All-Star and signing with the New Jersey Nets during the latter parts of the 2011-12 season. Since then, he’s been a functioning role player for a few NBA teams, most recently the Miami Heat.
