Minnesota Timberwolves Preview

Record: 25-36 (15-18 home, 10-18 road)

Starting Lineup:

PG – Ricky Rubio (9.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.6 apg)

SG – Brandon Rush (3.9 ppg,1.9 rpg, 0.7 apg)

SF – Andrew Wiggins (23.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.4 apg)

PF – Karl-Anthony Towns (24 ppg,12.2 rpg, 2.9 apg)

C – Gorgui Dieng (10 ppg, 7.9 rpg,1.1 bpg)

Key Reserves

Nemanja Bjelica (6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.2 apg) has been playing terrific basketball as of late. In Wednesday’s win over Utah, the second-year player had 13 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and two blocks in 32 minutes of action. Bjelica has been the first player off the bench for Minnesota lately, giving Towns an early spell just after the midway point in the first quarter. He’s a crucial part of the Timberwolves’ offense, providing three-point shooting and penetrating ability to create shots for others.

Tyus Jones (3.6 ppg, 1 rpg, 2.4 apg) is finally getting his crack at the rotation with Zach LaVine out with injury, and he’s certainly making the most of it. Jones played 18 minutes per game during February for the Wolves, playing the role of floor general while dishing out nearly four assists per game. Tyus is another player who can stretch the floor for the Timberwolves, something that will be huge against the Spurs stout defense.
