Game Prediction

After years of losing to the Spurs, perhaps, you may come to this part of the article with a prediction and say to yourself, “He’s just saying the Wolves are going to win, because he’s a Wolves fan writing about the team to other fans. That’s what they always do.”

And sure, that may be, but here’s a few reasons why the Wolves will win this game and not lose their tenth consecutive to San Antonio:

  1. The Spurs are playing on the second night of a back-to-back where travel was involved. Pop’s team played a tightly-contested game that went to overtime against the Pelicans. (First-hand, we saw what happened to the Utah Jazz after they played an emotional game against the Thunder the night before.) The Spurs could come out extremely flat. And, is it possible that Pop would rest some of his guys in this one?
  2. Minnesota is playing great basketball right now. If you look at FiveThirtyEight’s terrific Carmelo rankings, the Timberwolves have the highest gain in traction in the past week. And while the rankings don’t necessarily believe that Minnesota is likely to pull off a run to the playoffs, they still signify an upward trend with this team. Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins are playing out of this world basketball right now, and I think they’ll come through big time in this big game.
  3. Curses. Streaks. Whatever you’d like to call them, they are meant to be broken. So long to the Spurs nine-game winning streak.
