Timberwolves’ Season Grades
By Alex Swendig
Karl Anthony-Towns: A+
Absolutely by far the best player on the Timberwolves. Towns is on his way to becoming one of the best players in the league. He finished the season as the youngest player to ever average 25+ points and 10+ rebounds per game. He also became the only player in history to have 2000 points, 1000 rebounds, and 100 threes in a season.
A hugely impressive season for him, especially since he improved his numbers from last year. Last season he averaged 18.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. This season he averaged 25.1 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. That’s a huge jump from an already great rookie year.
Don’t be surprised if in the next few seasons, Towns becomes one of the top five players in the league. The best part about him being such a great player is that not many other players can guard him. He’s so big, and he’s only going to get bigger. There aren’t as many guys that can match up with his size like there used to be.
They only negative thing I can say about him is that he needs to step up his defense. Last time I checked, defense is half of the game. His interior defense really needs work. I’m sure Thibs is working on Towns’ defense as you’re reading this.
Take a look at the stats over the first two seasons of other superstar centers in the past. There are very few players that have had a better start to their career. Next season the Timberwolves absolutely have to make the playoffs, and I’m confident that they will because of KAT.
Towns had an almost perfect season this year. How could you possibly ask for any better? The only grade he could get for this season is an A+. I can’t wait to see what he does next year.
