Cole Aldrich: D-

The most forgettable player on the Timberwolves’ roster this season, Cole Aldrich averaged 1.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 8.5 minutes. Last season Aldrich averaged 5.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Not that much was expected from him this season, but he still fell short of those expectations.

Last summer, Cole was signed to a three-year $22 million contract. I honestly got my hopes up about him. He’s big and looks like an athletic guy.

In the past with other teams, he’s had good games here and there. Most of these hot games came the last couple seasons when he was with the Los Angeles Clippers.

I thought he had the potential to score up to eight points with eight rebounds a game. I was pretty far off. He’s struggled with injuries throughout his career, including this season. The only time in Aldrich’s career where he has played over 50 games in a season has been the last three years.

He’s had injury trouble in the past and somewhat in this season. This is still the healthiest he’s ever been. He’s only played over 50 games in a season three times and those three times have been the last three seasons.

I’m not totally sure what made him have a bad season.

Sure he had very limited minutes, but 1.7 points per game? He could have done better than that.

In the last game of the season against the Rockets, he played 15 minutes and scored two points on 1-2 shooting with only four rebounds.

It wasn’t an impressive year at all for Aldrich. Like I said earlier, there wasn’t much expected from him and he still fell short of those expectations.

It’s a shame, he’s a fun player to follow.

Hopefully, he can pick up his play next season. I like Aldrich, but I don’t see the value in him since he’s getting paid $7.3 million for this year. Sorry Cole, but a D- is the best I can do.
