Timberwolves’ Season Grades
By Alex Swendig
Tyus Jones: D
Tyus Jones finished his second season in the NBA, appearing in 60 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Apple Valley High School product had some highs this season but has mostly had lows throughout his career. He was drafted with the 24th overall pick in 2015 after an amazing NCAA tournament run.
His transition from college to the NBA hasn’t been a smooth one.His numbers this season are pretty much on par for the baseline he set in his rookie year. He did see his field goal percentage increase but that came with fewer shots per game.

He’s not a bad player, he’s sort of undersized and not the type of point guard that the league needs. This season he’s scored only 3.3 points per while last season he scored 4.2.
Tyus doesn’t possess elite athletic ability like other point guards do. He has had to survive in this league using his high basketball IQ.
The highlight of his season was winning summer league MVP, then after that, it was right back to three points per game.
Not yet 21, he needs to improve over the offseason or the Wolves might have to move on from him.
