Minnesota Timberwolves: 5 Best Games Of The Season
2. April 9th At Los Angeles Lakers
I told you there would be another Lakers game on this list and this one doesn’t disappoint.
Both Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns scored 40 or more points on this night to make loads of history for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Towns ended up dropping 40 points and Wiggins, not to be outdone by his younger teammate, dropped 41.
They are the first pair of teammates in Minnesota Timberwolves history to each score 40 or more points in a game.
Wiggins racked up a load of points but contributed very little else to the game. He finished with two rebounds, one assist, zero blocks, and zero steals.
Towns, on the other hand, had a monster game on the boards for the Timberwolves. He grabbed 21 rebounds to go along with his 40 points.
Wiggins needed 26 shots to get to his 41 points, while Towns was more efficient in recording only 22 shots.
This game was exciting because of more than just the 81 combined points.
The Timberwolves fought from more than 15 points down in the second quarter to take the lead at the end of the third.
Minnesota found themselves leading for the majority of the last two minutes of the game until a D’Angelo Russell three-pointer at the buzzer gave the Lakers the victory.
Even though it didn’t end as Timberwovles’ fans had hoped, it was an exciting see-saw battle between the two young squads.
