Minnesota Timberwolves: Pros/cons to Timberwolves drafting Markelle Fultz
Con: Decision-making
Markelle Fultz didn’t always show the best decision-making ability at the University of Washington.
One specific area Fultz demonstrated this was in his passing. He would often get lackadaisical with his angles and end up throwing a pass right into a defender’s arms.
This is illustrated by the 3.5 turnovers per game Fultz averaged in conference play. That led to him racking up the sixth-most turnovers in the Pac-12 despite missing five conference games.
Fultz would also force a lot of shots as he tried to keep Washington in games. It is difficult to discern if this is due to poor shot-selection or because Washington had little else to offer in terms of offensive firepower.
Whatever the real reason is, it leaves a lot to be desired in the decision-making category for Markelle Fultz.
While this isn’t all too concerning, especially for a rookie, it could be a difference-maker on a young Wolves team.
Considering the Timberwolves are desperate to win now, these turnovers could cost them some games during his rookie season.
Altogether, if the Timberwolves are fortunate enough to land the number one overall pick, Fultz’ decision-making could be the deciding factor.
