It’s time for round one of the MinnesotaTimberwolves’ Lottery Mock Draft. We play ESPN’s lottery simulator and mock draft the results.
With less than two weeks away from the NBA lottery, I thought it would be fun to play ESPN’s NBA Lottery Mock Draft Machine and see what the outcomes are.
I hit the “Play Lottery” button only once, I promise, and the following is what the order came out to be.
- Dallas Mavericks
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Sacramento Kings
- Boston Celtics
- Phoenix Suns
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Orlando Magic
- Minnesota Timberwolves
- New York Knicks
- Sacramento Kings
- Charlotte Hornets
- Detroit Pistons
- Denver Nuggets
- Miami Heat
From there, I mock drafted for each team based on their needs and the updated big board at The Step Back. I also used scouting reports from ESPN to help measure the prospect’s skills.
Depending on how well this goes, I might do it a few more times before the real draft lottery on May 16.

Overall, this lottery simulator did not yield the best results for a number of teams including the Timberwolves, Lakers, and Celtics.
The Lakers pick is top three protected but it falls to number six here, meaning that the 76ers finally get to cash in.
Hopefully, Minnesota will wind up with some better results at the real lottery than what happened during this simulation.
Even though this lottery simulator may not be very likely, as it gave the Mavericks, a team with a 1.7 percent chance at winning, the top overall pick, it’s time to play round one of Mock Lottery Draft.
