Jayson Tatum. 4. player. 18. . SF. Duke

The Boston Celtics, who received this pick from the Brooklyn Nets, end up drafting fourth overall. Not what they wanted but they are able to add to their already loaded team.

Even though Boston selected Jaylen Brown at the small forward position last year, they decide to draft the best player on their board in Jayson Tatum.

The Celtics are very much in asset collecting mode and since I can’t mock trades in this mock draft, Boston decides to select the best player remaining.

If Tatum does stay in Boston he would definitely create a logjam at the small forward position. With the aforementioned Brown along with Jae Crowder and Gerald Green, there wouldn’t be enough minutes to go around for everyone.

However, Tatum would earn his time on the court as he was very impressive during his only season at Duke.

He averaged 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game demonstrating that he would be another scoring option for Boston.

Tatum also possesses ideal size for his position, standing 6-foot-8.

The Celtics do like to play small, so maybe they could find some extra time for Tatum at the four.

Whatever his use, Tatum will prove to be an excellent commodity for the Celtics.
