Minnesota Timberwolves: Mock Lottery Draft 1.0
The Denver Nuggets also stay put in the lottery, winding up with the 13th overall pick.
With the Nuggets potentially losing their top two forwards, Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari, in the next couple of years, they decided to take Indiana’s OG Anunoby.
Gallinari has a player option for this season and will be an unrestricted free agent next year if he opts out.
Chandler also has a player option but his is for next season.
Anunoby is a bit of a risk for the nuggets as he tore his ACL in January, forcing him to have season-ending surgery.
Nobody knows for sure how he will recover, so the team doctor will need to approve him.
However, before he became injured he was showing significant promise throughout his season and a half at Indiana.
Anunoby is drafted this high based off his potential instead of the results he produced in college.
He may be able to play either of the forward positions at this point in his career but is probably best suited at power forward until he develops an outside shot.
On the defensive side of the floor, he will be able to guard multiple positions and can make his presence felt immediately.
His amazing athletic gifts such as his height, strength, and mobility give him the opportunity to become a defensive stud.
Thus is why the Denver Nuggets select him with the 13th pick.
