Minnesota Timberwolves: Mock Lottery Draft 1.0
The Detroit Pistons aren’t able to move up, despite their enormous 0.7 percent chance at landing the number one overall pick. This leaves them with the 12th pick where they select Jarrett Allen.
Andre Drummond holds down the fort at center for the Pistons and is still signed for two more years with a player option for 2020.
Unfortunately for Drummond, his slip in play this past year has led the Pistons to lose some confidence in their cornerstone big man.
That is the reason they select Jarrett Allen with the 12th overall pick.
Allen played one year at Texas and displayed all the necessary physical tools to be successful at the NBA level.
He is 6-foot-11 with a 7-foot-5 wingspan and a 9-foot-2 standing reach.
He does need to add some bulk, so playing behind Drummond for a couple of seasons will give him the opportunity to develop the necessary aspects of his game.
Allen was very inconsistent at Texas as he struggled to string together multiple good games in a row.
While Allen is not a stretch big man by any means, he does have a nice face-up game and showed the ability to take his man off the dribble.
The Pistons select Allen with the 12th overall pick and intend to give him some time to develop behind Andre Drummond.
