27. . PG. Kentucky. De'Aaron Fox. 9. player

The first big shakeup in the draft happens at number nine.

The New York Knicks, who were slated to get the seventh pick, fall two spots and select De’Aaron Fox.

This means that the Dallas Mavericks AND the Sacramento Kings will jump into the top three somewhere. You should know exactly where they landed if you were paying attention at the beginning.

As you are starting to see, the top of this draft is extremely point guard heavy. Therefore, the New York Knicks, who are in the market for a point guard, also decided to get in on that action.

Derrick Rose is an unrestricted free agent and it is unknown if the Knicks are willing to bring him back or not. The only other true point guard New York has on the roster is Chasson Randle, the undrafted player out of Stanford.

All that adds up to the Knicks selecting De’Aaron Fox, the freshman out of Kentucky.

Fox averaged 16.7 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds during his only season at college, proving that he can do a little bit of everything.

While his outside shot leaves a lot to be desired, he is a very athletic guard who can get into the paint and score or set him his teammates.

Fox is also a good on-ball defender and will bring some toughness and grit to the Knicks franchise.

Fox’s quickness, paired with Kristaps Porzingis, will make good building blocks for the Knicks as they look toward the future.

Carmello Anthony’s role with the team is unknown so this at least gives New York something to start with.
