Minnesota Timberwolves: Mock Lottery Draft 1.0
As a result of Dallas AND Sacramento jumping into the top three, Minnesota falls all the way back to the eighth spot in the lottery.
While this may seem like bad news to Timberwolves’ fans, Minnesota still ends up with the player they were hoping for in Lauri Markkanen.
Markkanen looks like he could be the answer to Minnesota’s prayers at this point in the draft.
He is the perfect example of the new-age big man. A 7-footer who can stretch the floor on the offensive side of the floor, providing the Timberwolves with much-needed spacing.
Although he isn’t the best rebounder or defender, the 19-year-old will have plenty of time to develop.
Markkanen could either start right away alongside Towns, moving Gorgui Dieng to the bench, or he could come off the bench himself and be a nice compliment.
The Timberwolves have struggled with spacing, especially after losing Nemanja Bjelica in the middle of March.
As a result, opposing teams often key in on Karl-Anthony towns and Andrew Wiggins.
Even with the disappointing result of the lottery, the Timberwolves still wind up with the man they have been targeting all along.
