Vince Carter

The third and final Memphis Grizzlies unrestricted free agent is yet another ageless wonder: Vince Carter, who will turn 41 years old in January. The former high-flying superstar just completed his third season with the Grizzlies, and says that he wants to keep playing.

After landing in Dallas in 2011, Carter made himself into an effective role player for a number of playoff squads between the Mavericks and Grizzlies. Always a solid long-range shooter, Carter began launching from deep more frequently and converted on on 37.8 percent of his three-point shots this past season while more than 60 percent of his total field goal attempts were from beyond the arc.

In the above-linked quotes over at RealGM.com, Carter alludes to wanting to stay in Memphis for what would likely be the final season of his career. However, he plays a position of need for the Wolves and would bring the leadership and outside shooting that Minnesota is sorely lacking on the wing.

Verdict: Vince Carter would be a great fit in Minnesota on a one-year deal. If the Grizzlies choose to move on or if Thibodeau finds Carter worthy of more than what Memphis is willing to offer, it’s a move that would seem to make quite a bit of sense. It’s unlikely that it takes place, but it’s absolutely worth a phone call for the Timberwolves front office.
