Minnesota Timberwolves draft profile: Frank Ntilikina
Fit with the Timberwolves
Frank Ntilikina is far from the perfect fit for the Minnesota Timberwolves. They already have three caliber point guards on their roster and have many other needs besides adding a fourth point guard.
I don’t see a scenario where the Wolves would take Ntilikina either, as he won’t be the best player available at the seventh spot.
However, if for some reason Tom Thibodeau and Scott Layden saw Ntilikina as a can’t miss prospect his fit with the Wolves would be an intriguing one.
Ntilikina would bring a defensive presence to the floor and could serve as a lockdown defender in his future. He could also play alongside Ricky Rubio as the secondary ball handler. This would allow Ntilikina more time to work on his ball-handling skills and improve his passing.
Shooting is a major concern. Even though Ntilikina improved his shot last year, he still has a lot of work to do. From an offensive perspective, it would create a lot of spacing issues if both him and Rubio were on the floor at the same time.
His stats during his time in France are also unimpressive. He barely made an impact this past season which suggests that he is still a few years away from making an impact in the NBA.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have already stated that they are looking for a player who can contribute right away. That means that they will stray far away from Frank Ntilikina or any other player who can’t produce positive results right off the bat.
