Con Number 2: Carmelo’s huge contract.

The biggest hurdle for the front office is finding the right player for a good value.  Although in some respects, Carmelo Anthony wouldn’t be a bad addition, his contract situation would cause a big problem for the Wolves when it comes to signing the young guys.

Carmelo Anthony will be demanding a salary around 26 million dollars next season and has a player option of close to 28 million for the following year should he choose to opt in.

The debate right now for the Minnesota Timberwolves has to be who of our big three get the max contracts.  Ultimately adding Carmelo’s massive contract would get in the way of our young guns getting paid correctly.

This is the biggest hurdle in a union between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Carmelo Anthony, and rightfully so.

Wiggins and LaVine could potentially get deals that would average about $25.5 million a year beginning in 2018-19. That would severely limit the wolves flexibility.

Although the addition of a player like Carmelo Anthony would be exciting for a lot of fans, this move just wouldn’t benefit the team in the long run.  It is fun to imagine though.
