Brandon Jennings

The former 10th overall draft pick of the Milwaukee Bucks has donned four uniforms over the past two seasons after playing his first four years in Wisconsin and two full seasons in Detroit.

Perhaps not coincidentally, he’s played the worst basketball of his career over the past two seasons. With the Wizards in 2016-17, Jennings only appeared in 23 games, averaging 16.3 minutes per contest and just 3.5 points and 4.7 assists per game.

Jennings is a shoot-first point guard who has launched progressively more three-point attempts as his career has worn on, but with barely league-average results. He’s a 34.6 percent long-range shooter on his career, but has hit on just 31.9 percent of his three attempts over the past two seasons, split between Detroit, Orlando, New York, and Washington.

It’s tough to see how a no-defense, mediocre three-point shooter at the point guard spot would be a fit for the Timberwolves, who already have Ricky Rubio and last year’s first round selection Kris Dunn in their rotation. But, then again, the Wolves have allegedly had interest in Derrick Rose, so you never know.

Verdict: The Timberwolves won’t go after Brandon Jennings. He’ll be an instant-offense-type signing by a fringe playoff contender to shore up a desperate bench unit.
