#5 – Washington Wizards

As the Timberwolves and their fans like to call him, The Wizard of Bazz could be a fit in our nation’s capital. How fitting would it be if the Wizard of Bazz ended up on the Wizards? I think it would have a nice ring, but maybe I’m losing my mind.

The Wizards have a decent amount of cap space this off-season, and with Otto Porter, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Trey Burke all set to become restricted free agents and Brandon Jennings ready to become an unrestricted free agent, it’s easy to see that it’s a big off-season for the Wizards.

Porter is going to be receiving a max contract, whether it’s from the Washington Wizards or elsewhere. But, will the Wizards have enough to sign all three players? The new collective bargaining agreement allows for teams to have two players under the max contract. That leaves the Wizards with a decision on how they want to divvy up the money between the three players.

Porter proved himself this year, becoming a reliable “three-and-D” player. Outside of the Wizards starting five, there really isn’t anything impressive on their bench. Washington realized this, and made some moves at the trade deadline, receiving Bojan Bogdonavic from Brooklyn.

One might think that if the Wizards had a better bench, that they could have possibly taken out the Celtics and even competed with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

That’s where Shabazz Muhammad would come in. Muhammad was a good bench player who fit the sixth-man role nicely. Every so often, Muhammad would become inconsistent and score just a few points a night. But at other times, it was near impossible to stop him from scoring the basketball.

Nevertheless, Shabazz improved his three-point shooting and found himself figuring out who he is in the NBA. Muhammad would be a great spark plug who is always gives 100 percent effort out on the floor. Plus, he would help the scoring output when Beal, Porter, or Wall are out of the game.

The only thing slowing this signing down would be the amount of money they want to fork over, knowing they are looking to retain all three of their key players.
