Minnesota Timberwolves: Top 20 draft busts
By Antoine Bass
9. Bracey Wright
With the 34th pick in the 2005 Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected Bracey Wright.
Wright was an offensive threat at the collegiate level. Not only was he an offensive threat but he also was very consistent as well.
Wright was a terrific shooter and he could use pump fakes and his handle to get to the rim. He also was a great rebounder because of his good wingspan and large hands.
He had some doubts about his defense as well as his size but those would fade away during draft night because of the high upside of having such a prolific scorer.
Sadly, Wright did not turn into that player. Wright only played two seasons in the NBA, both being in Minnesota.
In those two seasons, he averaged 5 points per game while shooting 32 percent from behind the arc. Wright eventually parted ways with Minnesota and begin to follow the trend and play overseas.
He has had a successful career in his play in leagues other than the NBA. He’s even been a finals MVP before when he played for Hapoel Jerusalem in 2014.
He averaged 19 points per game for the series. While he may have not turned out to be the scorer the Timberwolves wanted, Wright did make a name for himself elsewhere.
