7. Lazar Hayward

With the 30th pick in the 2010 Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected Lazar Hayward.

Hayward attended Marquette for his collegiate career and finished second all-time in scoring and fifth all-time in rebounding.

Hayward seemed to be a very promising player. He was athletic, he was a great finisher, and he had a lot of upside to his game. Though Haywards great college play never translated to the NBA. In two seasons with the Timberwolves Hayward only averaged 3.7 points per game.

Hayward was eventually traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on December 13, 2011. The Thunder then sent him to the Tulsa 66ers and recalled him after he averaged 28 points per games in two games played.

Hayward was a part of the Thunder roster that would lose to the Miami Heat in the 2012 NBA finals. He was traded to the Houston Rockets at the beginning of the next season. Though he was waived on December 31, 2012.

Hayward then again became a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves but this was only on a 10-day contract in which they did not sign him back.

Hayward did not seem like he was able to find a home in the NBA. Hayward now currently plays for Guaros de Lara in the Venezuelan professional basketball club.

It’s unfortunate to see Haywards career not flourish as a guard in the backcourt for Minnesota, especially because Lance Stephenson was taken 10 picks later. Stephenson went on to have a solid career.
