Minnesota Timberwolves: Top 20 draft busts
By Antoine Bass
14. Jerome Allen and 13. Mark Davis
With the 49th pick in the 1995 draft, the Timberwolves selected Jerome Allen. The Timberwolves also selected Mark Davis a pick before him at 48.
Davis and Allen both have something in common. They both were busts who played with the Timberwolves for one season.
In his one season with Minnesota Allen only averaged 2.6 points per game while shooting 30 percent from behind the arc.
Allen eventually left the Timberwolves and went on to play for the Indiana Pacers and even had a short stint with the Denver Nuggets until he was out of the NBA altogether.
He averaged 2.9 points per game for his career while in the NBA and is now an assistant coach of the Boston Celtics.
Davis, on the other hand, contributed a bit more than Allen did for the Timberwolves. Davis averaged 3.3 points per game with his one season with the Timberwolves.
He also eventually left the team after the season ended and joined the Philadelphia 76ers. In his time in Philadelphia Davis averaged 8.5 points per game during 1996-97.
Unfortunately, the next season Davis’s scoring average would drop to 4 points per game. Davis would eventually spend time with the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors.
Though just like Allen, Davis wasn’t in the league for long as he played his last NBA game in 2000. Davis went on to play for countless teams overseas.
Davis and Allen both go down in history as two of the Timberwolves biggest busts.
