3. The Minnesota Timberwolves don’t have a bench

The Timberwolves had the worst scoring bench in the league last season. The imbalance between the starters and the bench can only widen this season as the Wolves traded backup point guard, Kris Dunn, and will most likely lose restricted free agent, Shabazz Muhammad this offseason.

Muhammad’s game becomes even less valuable in a Wolves team with two players who do what he does at a much higher standard. Muhammad’s limited offensive role moving forward, combined with his matador defense makes him a luxury that the Wolves can do without.

The obvious choice is to stagger Butler and Wiggins’ minutes, ensuring one of them is on the floor at all time. However, that has not traditionally been Tom Thibodeau’s style, and it is hard to imagine this Leopard changing his stripes. This means that Wiggins, Butler, and Towns will play a lot of minutes, and they will most likely play them together.

Whilst the Timberwolves still have cap space to sing some pieces, drafting these pieces is more valuable. Drafting them also ensures that you have them on a team-friendly contract for a long time.
