Minnesota Timberwolves: Cheap free agents (part 2)
4. Ian Clark
Ian Clark was behind such a stacked team in Golden State the last two years, he was never given the chance to show what he could do.
However, playing limited minutes (14.8 per game) Clark averaged 6.8 points on 37.4 percent shooting from downtown.
That shooting is what will draw Thibodeau to the shooting guard. The former Warrior appeared to make big strides in the shooting department last season by increasing his attempts and makes per game.
At 6-foot-3 he is a shorter wing in the league but is able to get his shot off quick enough. He also benefited from great shooters, passing and spacing with the Warriors which gave him more room to operate.
Defensively is a different story. The 26-year-old is stuck as a shooting guard in a point guard’s body. This makes it difficult for him on that end of the floor as he struggles to match up with either position.
Clark does possess some ball-handling skills when necessary but often turns the ball over when he’s pushing the issue.
If Minnesota does pursue Clark, there’s a chance he could provide some good bench depth and learn from going against Jamal Crawford every day in practice.
