As the off-season rolls along, the Timberwolves’ Target Center remodel is reportedly 70 percent of the way complete as a few members of the local media were allowed to check out the progress.
It’s already been a big off-season for the Minnesota Timberwolves: a revamped starting lineup, a brand new sixth-man, and all-new, lofty expectations. And after a new videoboard was hung over the Wolves’ home court prior to last season, the rest of the Target Center’s renovation will be complete before preseason tips off in October.
The Twin Cities media was allowed a sneak preview of what is apparently a 70-percent-completed project. Below are a compilation of the best photos that were snapped by our scribe friends. Enjoy.

Some might say that the above is actually *the most* important 30 percent of the project.

Open concourses are one of the best features of virtually all new ballparks, stadiums, and arenas. Twin Cities natives no doubt remember the upgrade from the Metrodome to first Target Field and now U.S. Bank Stadium as well. Sure, there are plenty of notable improvements, but a 360-degree walk-around with a view of the playing surface is huge.

This will be a cool touch. More skyline views and daylight are always a positive thing.
Jace also tells us that the Timberwolves locker room will be twice as big as the old edition, which was one of the smaller locker rooms in the entire NBA. Here’s his photo of the space:

And finally, a view from the outside of what the brand new atrium will look like.

This is a cool project, folks. It should be the icing on the cake of the opening day starting lineup of Jeff Teague, Andrew Wiggins, Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson, and Karl-Anthony Towns concocted by Tom Thibodeau and Scott Layden.
