5 Goals for Nemanja Bjelica in Timberwolves 2017-18 season
1. Get Threes
The Timberwolves are lacking. Lacking in 3-point players to make the difference from beyond the arc.
Zach LaVine, the man Minnesota love to see drain one from downtown is now in Chicago – a price to pay in order of gaining All-Star Jimmy Butler.
Who can step up? Bjelica, that’s who.
He has all the qualities of a player adept from 3-point range. His form is arguably one of the crispest on the roster – as mesmerizing as a mid-range jumper from Gorgui Dieng – something which has allowed him to net 56 threes over the course of the 82-game period.
If Bjelica gets more touches of the ball he can make it rain three-pointers all day. Although he only made .316, this is only just behind Andrew Wiggins, and above former point-guard Ricky Rubio (who by the way was lauded for his improvement from beyond the arc since the turn of the year).
If he can meet the sort of consistently from three-pointers, the Timberwolves could have the answer they have been looking for in regards to a 3-point player off the bench.
The trouble is one of those words that feature in the aforementioned paragraph – consistently.
