Minnesota Timberwolves: Ranking the contracts
9. Jeff Teague
Signed Contract: 3-year/$57,000,000
Jeff Teague will roughly make about $19 million per season. Again, good player but is he worth that much a year?
He made one All-Star appearance in his eight-year career back in the 2014-15 season. Still just 29 – Teague averaged 15.3 points, 7.8 assists, 4 rebounds, 1.2 steals and shot 35 percent from three.
Compared to Ricky Rubio, Teague is better offensively shooting and pick and roll wise. But Rubio is a better defender, rebounder, passer and would of been $3 million cheaper. But in today’s market that s what players will cost you. Just look at the free agent point guards who signed contracts average per year earnings:
–George Hill: $19,000,000
–Kyle Lowry: $33,333,333
–Jrue Holiday: $25,200,000
So I guess when comparing today’s salary it wasn’t too bad of a deal. But I feel like Rubio would of been a better fit with already three players needing to score the ball. But Teague does bring that shooting ability that Rubio never brought.
