Minnesota Timberwolves: Ranking the contracts
4. Gorgui Dieng
Contract Signed: 4-year/$64,000,000
One of the most underrated players in the game, Gorgui Dieng does everything a team can ask for. He understands the game, doesn’t do anything too flashy, helps a team win, plays good defense and of course his all of his charges taken.
He easily could have left the team and received a big contract in free agency.
Instead, he was generous and decided to stay on a smaller contract because he understands the teams financial future and wanted to stay in Minny. A player of his caliber on the open market is worth anywhere from $70-84 million.
Mr. Fundamentals is still just 27, but it does seem like he is younger because he wasn’t your traditional one and done in college. He averaged 10 points a game, almost 8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per game.
Only knock on him is his ability to stretch the floor, but we have seen him taking more shots from there.
Even Bleacher Report has taken notice and ranked him as the eighth best power forward in the league, just behind Kristaps Porzingis.
