Top 5 three-point shooters in Timberwolves history
5. Zach LaVine
Starting the countdown with a (very) familiar face only seemed right. Although in hindsight his stint with the Timberwolves was fairly brief, he quickly became the best deep-range scorer on the team.
In his first season with the Timberwolves, LaVine only shot 34 percent from behind the arc. He continued to progress his deep ball and eventually ended up leading the Timberwolves in three-point percentage over the last two seasons.
In his sophomore season, LaVine shot 38.9 percent from three-point land. He followed up his first team-leading performance with a sequel, shooting 38.7 percent from deep last year.
With a short sample size it’s hard to say if LaVine, while coming off of an injury, will continue to progress. There is no doubt, however, that since the beginning of this new Timberwolves era Zach LaVine had been a vital cog in the machine.
Without Zach’s continued progression to potential stardom, there most likely would’ve been no deal for Jimmy Butler.
Many will remember LaVine for his high-flying abilities and dunk contest victories, but many will forget that he was the Wolves’ best three-point shooter. He always found a way to impress the crowds at Target Center, and there is no doubt that #8 will be missed.
With a new direction for Zach LaVine, there is a strong chance that his three-point numbers continue to increase. In Chicago, he will have the full support of the franchise behind him as they try and build around his talent.
Good luck in the Windy City, Zach!
