Top 5 three-point shooters in Timberwolves history
3. Kevin Love
Kevin Love is widely known for being one of the better deep-ball big men in the league today. Love makes the list because of how he helped change the complete offensive attack for the Timberwolves during his tenure in Minnesota.
Although he actually never led the Timberwolves in single-season three-point percentage, Love was one of the more consistent three-point shooters in recent memory.
Similar to Zach LaVine, he didn’t start his time in Minnesota with a reliable deep ball. After two years of decent scoring, he exploded onto the NBA scene in his third professional season. In 2010-2011, Kevin averaged 20.1 points per game to accompany a 41.7 three point percentage.
The only reason Love didn’t lead the team in three-point shooting was because journeyman Luke Ridnour had a career year from deep while shooting 44 percent.
With the exception of the 2012 season where he missed most of the games played due to injury, Love averaged around 37 percent from deep. He helped change the way the offense moved, which led to the signing of Kevin Martin.
With Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love leading the attack, the Timberwolves ran a fast-paced offense. Kevin Love’s consistent deep scoring threat helped space the floor for a team that lacked a ton of talent.
We all know what happened when Love decided he wanted to jump ship, of course…
