Timberwolves to play on Christmas Day again
The NBA released the opening week’s nationally-televised games and the Christmas Day match-ups ahead of the full team schedules, and the Timberwolves are very much a part of the announcement.
The full NBA schedule is yet to come out, but the league went ahead and released it’s marquee Kia Tip-Off games as well as the nationally-televised Christmas Day games. And this year, the Timberwolves are part of all of the festivities.
As for when the full schedule will be posted, well…
It’ll be exciting to see the schedule when it comes out. But, for now it looks like we only know two games of the 82-game season. As you’ll see below, it has been reported that the Timberwolves will be playing an away game on October 18th against the San Antonio Spurs, and another away game on Christmas Day against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Below is a quick look at the two games, along with the rest of the schedules.
Minnesota Timberwolves @ San Antonio Spurs
October 18th, 2017 – 8:30 PM CT on ESPN
At first glance, it appears that this will more than likely be the Wolves first game. It would be hard to seem them having to play back-to-back games to start out the season — especially with the adjusted NBA schedule this season — so it’s fair to expect this to be the season opener for the Wolves.
Sadly, it won’t be the home opener for the Wolves too debut all the new gear and looks they have established over the hectic off-season. However, it will give us a first look at how the Wolves gel with all their new additions.
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Lakers
December 25th, 2017 – 10:30 PM ET on TNT
The Timberwolves will be playing another game on Christmas Day for their second straight year. It’s a big honor – only the best of the best and/or the biggest markets typically play on this day. After their first game against the Oklahoma City Thunder last year, it was questioned by many people as to why the Timberwolves received the nod to play on a nationally known holiday. And to say that they played poorly would be an understatement as they lost by a score of 112-100.
Hopefully, this year will be a lot different. On paper, it appears that the Wolves should be able to come out on top. The Lakers are still in a rebuilding mode, and the Wolves look to be firmly out of the rebuild station this season. It’ll be a great chance to see how rookie Lonzo Ball and last years rookie Brandon Ingram fair against the Wolves.

By all means, it will be an exciting year for the Wolves. New jerseys, new court, new team, new logo — it’s time for Wolves to take the league by storm.
