1.  Offseason

The first thing to look at for both clubs is their notable offseason additions and subtractions.

First up the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves offseason has been well documented around the NBA for many reasons, most notably Jimmy Butler.  In addition to Butler, the Timberwolves have added a former All-Star point guard in Jeff Teague.

The roster shake up didn’t end there though.  The front office also added two notable veterans in Taj Gibson and Jamal Crawford to help a young roster achieve it’s playoff aspirations.

The Timberwolves also selected Justin Patton, the big man from Creighton, with the 16th pick in the 2017 NBA draft.

With many additions for the Timberwolves there were also a few big subtractions from last year’s roster.  Zach LaVine heads this list along with Kris Dunn in a trade to the Chicago Bulls on draft night.

Also, veteran Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio was traded to Utah in order to create cap space.  Lastly, Shabazz Muhammad, the streaky wing player, remains an unrestricted free agent.

When taking a look at the Minnesota Vikings they too had a ton of roster changes for key positions.

The Vikings struggled heavily last year on offense with a depleted offensive line.  The first thing the front office did in free agency was to address this concern by adding Tackles Riley Reiff and Mike Remmers.

Other notable additions via free agency included a running back from the Oakland Raiders, Latavius Murray, and a hometown wide receiver, Michael Floyd.

Rick Spielman also had another successful draft despite not having a first round pick.  The Vikings added great talent in emerging stars Dalvin Cook, Pat Elflein, and Bucky Hodges.

However, the subtractions were a heavy hit for the Vikings as well.  Future Hall of Famer, Adrian Peterson, leads the departing list for the Vikes.  They also lost former lottery pick left tackle, Matt Kalil, defensive stand out, Captain Munnerlyn, and big play kick returner, Cordarrelle Patterson.

All in all when comparing the two teams off-season performances I think the edge goes to the Timberwolves.  In adding one of the best players in the NBA, it was always going to be hard to beat the Timberwolves in this category.
