1. Karl Anthony Towns

He has been the face of the franchise since he was drafted number-one-overall in 2015. Being the first #1 pick in franchise history, Towns has lived up to that and then some.

While amassing impressive stats throughout his two-year career, the former Kentucky Wildcat has shown the ability to grow his game. From his rookie year to year two, he improved basically every statistical measure that matters in the NBA, especially offensively.

Last season, Towns even did something the no other player in NBA history has done:

Just let that sink in for a second. No other player in NBA history. Ever. Yet, he was still denied a spot on the All-NBA Third Team.

His defensive numbers, however, are a different story. On NBA.com, Towns defensive rating is 110.8. That number puts him in the same company as Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose defensively — in other words, not exactly great company.

While his defensive numbers aren’t as outstanding as his offensive numbers are, he is a franchise cornerstone. KAT has all the talent on the floor and charisma off the floor to represent the franchise.

Even before Butler came to town, making this team relevant in the national landscape, Towns was already all over the place. He has appeared in commercials for Foot Locker, Kit Kat, and NBA 2K17. Being able to have a brand off the court is just as important as having people know who you are on the court.

Karl-Anthony Towns is already a star and is getting pretty close to superstar status. Now, a run with Butler and Wiggins should make that dream a reality.

Just remember, this is Towns’ team. (Not that it matters all that much.)
