3. Go after the Sixth Man of the Year or Most Improved Award

Dieng has shown he can be productive either starting or coming in as a reserve, which is usually the case for a lot of top sixth men in the NBA.

If Thibs decides to have Dieng come off the bench and start Gibson, this can help Dieng in the long run. Gibson was in the running for the Sixth Man Award and was really aiming for it but fell short to Jamal Crawford during the 2013-2014 NBA season. Gibson finished second to Crawford, acquiring 49 first place votes and Crawford received 57 first place votes.

Gibson averaged about 13 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. Now Dieng should be able to put up those type of numbers. All of the scoring attention will be put upon Jimmy Butler, Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns. The only reliable scorer off the bench will be Crawford, so Dieng could be asked to pick up some of the scoring load as well.

With the stacked team that the Minnesota Timberwolves now have, Dieng can fly under the radar and still give his solid production, while he can keep on steadily improving. Teams will not be game-planning to guard and shut down Dieng, allowing him to get easier buckets, while helping the starters get a break without having to miss a beat.  rom those sixth men candidates will be beneficial to Dieng and his development. He can also go for the Most Improved Award. His development across the board and the Wolves about to become a strong Western Conference team, everyone will start to notice Dieng and how he has been making silent improvements every year. That type of improvements while your team is willing will earn you either one of those awards.
