It’s time to break down which games stand out on the Timberwolves schedule during the upcoming season. Which contests should we look forward to the most?

The Minnesota Timberwolves schedule was released earlier this month. Here at Dunking With Wolves, we broke it down with a staff roundtable as well as on the DWW Podcast.

As always, there will be many good games to look forward to this season — including 25 nationally-televised tilts — but we’ve decided to rank the top-five games to be excited about.

First up: the season opener.

#5 – October 18 at San Antonio

This will be a very nice early season test for the Wolves as the Spurs will once again be among the best teams in the league. The game will be televised on ESPN as part of the league’s Tip-Off week.

The key match-up to watch within the game will be perennial All-Stars Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard facing off. Plus, we’ll see two of the best coaches in the game in Gregg Popovich and Tom Thibodeau go head-to-head as well.

Winning the first game of the season (after playing only three preseason games, no less) with a largely new roster is never easy — especially on the road against the Spurs.
