Timberwolves Roundup: Target Center renovation, David Adelman
By Ben Beecken
The Target Center renovations continue with some sneak peeks via Twitter, plus former Timberwolves assistant David Adelman has left Orlando for a Wolves’ division rival.
As we inch ever closer to real, live basketball being played, the makeover of the Wolves’ arena continues as well.
The Timberwolves, presumably, are operating the TC Renovation Twitter account, and have given their followers a steady trickle of information and behind-the-scenes looks at the remake of one of the NBA’s older arenas. Last year, fans were treated to the brand new scoreboard hung over the court. This year, the Minnesota Lynx are playing their home games at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul while the Target Center renovations are completed in advance of the 2017-18 NBA season.
The latest addition was tweeted out by TC Renovation on Friday…
Also from this week, a new time-lapse of the exterior of the building, which has already undergone a ton of changes.
The Timberwolves organization is doing a great job of keeping folks engaged as the work continues on the building. It’s a time crunch now, of course, although the Wolves are unlikely to have more than one or two home preseason games due to the team’s trip to China.
Elsewhere, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that former Timberwolves assistant coach David Adelman will be joining Mike Malone’s staff in Denver after spending 2016-17 with the Orlando Magic. Adelman, of course, is former Wolves head coach Rick Adelman‘s son and was on the Wolves staff through 2015-16 under Flip Saunders and interim head coach Sam Mitchell.
According to AP guy Jon Krawczynski, Adelman is likely to be the offensive coordinator under Malone.
The Nuggets have a great coaching staff and an improved roster and will absolutely challenge for a playoff spot this year. Portland will likely be mediocre and challenge the .500-mark again. Utah was a 51-game winner a year ago. And Oklahoma City won 47 games last season and added Paul George to the fold. The Northwest Division could legitimately be the best division, top to bottom, in the entire NBA.
