On Friday, the Minnesota Timberwolves released their entire preseason schedule.
Finally, the Minnesota Timberwolves front office have broken their silence regarding training camp and the preseason, signaling basketball is right around the corner. On Friday, the Timberwolves released their media day and training camp schedules for all to see.
The Star Tribune’s Jerry Zgoda tweeted about it earlier in the day.
Wolves announce they'll open camp in San Diego on Sept. 23 & are scheduled for 7 days of workouts before 9/30 game vs Lakers in Anaheim

It’s an interesting schedule which includes much of their time being spent in southern California and China, among other places. For the first time in quite awhile, the Wolves will not be in Glen Taylor’s home town of Mankato where they had camped at Minnesota State on an annual basis.
First, they will hold their media day at Mayo Clinic Square on September 22nd to get the ball rolling. Then, they will be practicing at both UC-San Diego and San Diego State University. (As an SDSU graduate, I approve of this decision on the part of the Timberwolves and look forward to spreading the good news.)
The preseason exhibition games will be played all over the place. The Timberwolves take on the Los Angeles Lakers in Anaheim at the Honda Center before heading off to China to play two games against the Golden State Warriors.
If you ask why SD for camp: it's on way to Anaheim/China & Thibs liked how 2007 Celtics' European preseason trip brought KG & Co. together

There is no doubt that this season will be exciting with the addition of Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague, and others. The NBA knows something special is happening with this team, as well, and it will be good to show them off internationally.
Maybe fans in San Diego who are looking for a new team after the departure of the Chargers may end up hopping on the bandwagon early.
Wolves' camp start is a week early both b/c NBA season starts earlier & China preseason trip too

In a little over a month, the Timberwolves will open their regular season against the San Antonio Spurs on the road as part of ESPN’s opening week of games. Then, the home opener will see familiar face Ricky Rubio come to town as the Timberwolves take on the Utah Jazz later that week.
