Five things Timberwolves fans need to know about Jimmy Butler
Jimmy Butler was kicked out of the house when he was just 13 years old
You’re right — it’s hard to imagine a 13-year-old walking the streets and roughing it on his own, but Butler did it. Not only did he survive to tell the tale, now he is a multi-millionaire and has enough money to build as many houses as he wants to kick whoever he wants out of them.
To make his epic rags-to-riches tale even more heartwarming are the not so heartwarming words his mother imparted upon him before giving him the boot. According to an article by ballislife.com, Butler’s mother told him, “I don’t like the look of you. You gotta go.” Talk about cold.
While most would relish in the pity they receive from such unheralded circumstances of their youth, Butler wants no part of it. Also in the above-linked article, Butler told ESPN during a pre-draft interview:
"“Please, I know you’re going to write something. I’m just asking you, don’t write it in a way that makes people feel sorry for me,” he said. “I hate that. There’s nothing to feel sorry about. I love what happened to me. It made me who I am. I’m grateful for the challenges I’ve faced. Please, don’t make them feel sorry for me.”"
Talk about a good attitude.
