Five things Timberwolves fans need to know about Jimmy Butler
Butler is signed with Jordan Brand
In the same Chicago Tribune article about Butler’s fish tank, information was shared about Butler’s insane shoe collection. A video posted from a previous interview he was involved in on ESPN’s SC 6 shows an entire room filled wall to wall with nothing but shoes.
According to the same article, Butler was quoted as saying,
"“I knew that picture was going to come up. I was so mad when that picture was up there because nobody knows my shoe situation,” Butler said half-jokingly. “And what does that have to do with the house? Everybody knows that that has to come with me anyway.”"
Apparently, that’s just how it goes when you’re signed with one of the biggest shoe companies in the world. Also from the Chicago Tribune: “I love my sneakers,” Butler said. “That’s how it looks when you’re with the Jordan brand.”
The collection is a small consolation prize for the 75 percent pay cut he took to sign with Jordan over Adidas, according to an article by Blair Sheade of the Chicago Sun Times.
Apparently, Butler had worn Jordan and Nike throughout the course of his playing career and never experienced foot problems. Once he started wearing Adidas, that changed, prompting the All-Star to take a pay cut to play in a more comfortable shoe and in the process, possess one of the coolest shoe collections in the world.
