The Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t been around very long by NBA standards. However, they have still made a decent amount of trades during that time. In fact, they participated in four separate deals during their inaugural 1989-90 season.
As you may have guessed, many of these trades didn’t work out in their favor. That’s to be expected for a team who has only made the playoffs eight times in 28 years.
However, these trades that helped the team came in all shapes and sizes. There were blockbuster deals and minimal moves that turned into significant ones. Draft picks were traded. Players were traded. And just about anything and everything in between.
We’ve seen franchise players come (Kevin Love). And we’ve seen those players leave (Love and Kevin Garnett). We’ve seen two-for-one swaps, three-teamers, and even one four-teamer. Flip Saunders made perhaps the most deals of any General Manager during his tenure.
