3. Greg Buckner, Marko Jaric, O.J. Mayo and Antoine Walker to Memphis for Brian Cardinal, Jason Collins, Mike Miller and Kevin Love.

This draft-day trade marked the start of a new era for the Timberwolves.

Kevin Garnett was shipped out a year prior, leaving a gigantic void in the face of the franchise role.

When Minnesota agreed to send Greg Buckner, Marko Jaric, O.J. Mayo and Antoine Walker to the Memphis Grizzlies for Brian Cardinal, Jason Collins, Mike Miller and Kevin Love, everyone knew it was about Mayo and Love.

Jaric was a disappointment throughout his time in Minnesota. He and Buckner only played one more season in the NBA after this trade. And Walker never even played again.

Mayo, who was taken with the third overall pick, was the actual get. He went on to have a fairly successful career, but never truly lived up to his potential.

Cardinal and Collins were both throw-ins and hardly played after the trade. Miller was supposed to help offset the perceived discrepancy in talent, but had a disappointing one season with the Wolves before being traded the next year.

Love, the fifth pick, went on to become perhaps the second-best player Minnesota has ever had. He made three All-Star teams during his time in Minnesota and averaged 19.2 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. That includes putting up two monster 26 point and 12 board seasons.
