The Minnesota Timberwolves have showcased three of their four new jerseys, each bringing something unique to the table. But which of the jerseys will look best when the Wolves return to the court next season?

The first two of the Timberwolves four new jerseys were revealed last month, in the forms of ‘The Icon Edition’ (dark) and ‘The Association Edition’ (Light). The two jerseys showcased a new, college-esque look for the Timberwolves, as part of both their transition to the ‘new era’, and Nike’s new NBA jerseys.

The jerseys feature the Nike Swoosh, replacing the Adidas logo, and for the first time the Timberwolves will feature a sponsor patch on their jerseys.

The newest announcement introduces the ‘Statement Edition’, featuring “Aurora green“as the major color.

The ‘Statement Edition’ jerseys are both Seahawks and Hi-Vis-esque.

I was a little taken aback and unsure when I first saw the bright green jerseys, but if it includes a season similar to how the Seahawks’ last few years have gone, count me in.

Personally, I think the ode to the Northern Lights that the Aurora Green is supposed to represent is a long shot. Until I read the official statement regarding the jerseys on the NBA website, Aurora Borealis did not enter my mind. The green might be a little too vivid and solid in my opinion.

Here is a video from Rodney Richardson, the designer behind the Wolves’ redesign.

The jerseys certainly make a statement however, as the Timberwolves’ will have the most noticeable jerseys when they hit the court in them this upcoming season. Just make sure you’ve got your sunglasses on while you’re watching the game.

So which jersey best suits the Timberwolves?

Fans have had a mixed reaction to the jerseys on Twitter, which is to be expected when completely overhauling your teams’ look.

Personally, I think the jerseys are a big change that wasn’t exactly necessary. I understand the Timberwolves’ eagerness to change anything and everything they can to support the shift to the ‘new era’ of Minnesota basketball, and there isn’t a much better opportunity to overhaul your uniforms than when a new company is taking over. However, I loved the Timberwolves’ jerseys as they were. The designs were great, and the colors were a perfect fit. I admire the want for green as a throwback, but the bright neon green that has been chosen will probably take some time to grow on me. For that reason alone, I don’t think the Statement jerseys are the best fit for the Wolves.

I quite like both the Icon and Association editions, although I was a little unsure about the shift to a more collegiate-jersey look at first. While the Association jerseys feature the white and blue of the Timberwolves’ old home jerseys, I personally prefer the Icon edition as my favorite of the new selection.

The Icon edition, with its Midnight Navy and Lake Blue color scheme, brings a new look to the Timberwolves’, and I personally am excited to see them hit the court in it.

While its a pain that my wardrobe is now full of outdated Wolves jerseys, I am excited to welcome the Icon edition into my collection, once it becomes available. The Association edition may find its way there soon too, and hopefully the Statement edition will grow enough on me to be fully welcomed.

The Timberwolves’ new era has arrived, both on the court and off, and the new jerseys will hopefully be joining the Wolves in the NBA playoffs this year. With still one final design to be announced, I’m excited to see how the Timberwolves’ plan to wrap-up their new look.
