How many games will the Minnesota Timberwolves win this year? Let’s take a look.
With the new NBA season rapidly approaching Minnesota Timberwolves fans have a lot to be excited about. New players, new threads, new court and a new attitude.
With so much excitement a lot of people have been speculating as to how many wins the Timberwolves will have this year and if they will finally break their playoff drought.
So to pass the time I’m doing what every fan has done, pick how many games we will win this next year.
This article will consist of win predictions for the first half of the Timberwolves season leading up to the All-Star break. In addition to the win/loss prediction, I will give a short description of the reasoning behind each choice.
Let’s jump right into it starting with game one:
Minnesota @ San Antonio – 10.18.17
Wolves Lose: 0-1

The Timberwolves weren’t exactly great on the road last year and heading into San Antonio for the first official game together will most likely end up with a negative result. Also, San Antonio had the second best home record last year behind the Warriors. Minnesota will fight, but this one ends up in a loss.
Utah @ Minnesota – 10.20.17
Wolves Win: 1-1
The return of Ricky Rubio ends up in a supercharged home opening win for the new-look Timberwolves. The atmosphere in the revamped Target Center will be electric and I’m expecting them to live up to the home crowd hype for their first victory.
Minnesota @ OKC – 10.22.17
Wolves Lose: 1-2
They embark on a one-game road trip to go play the reigning NBA MVP Russell Westbrook and his new-look squad. Unfortunately, they come up short in the first meeting of the season, but make no mistake this series will be a rivalry this year.
Indiana @ Minnesota – 10.24.17
Wolves Win: 2-2
They hold suit here at home by taking down the now Paul George-less Pacers. The home court advantage starts to build momentum.
Minnesota @ Detroit – 10.25.17
Wolves Win: 3-2
Look to this game for the Timberwolves to start their first win streak of the season, and get their first road win in the process. The Pistons were average at home last year, and Minnesota will take advantage of a lackluster Pistons performance.
OKC @ Minnesota – 10.27.17
Wolves Win: 4-2
The home court momentum really comes in clutch for the new era Timberwolves as they win a hard fought game against a good Thunder team. A rivalry is born.
Minnesota @ Miami – 10.30.17
Wolves Lose: 4-3
The three-game win streak comes to an end when they head to Miami to take on Pat Riley’s Heat. Miami ended the year strong last year and look to them to begin this year as one of the more confident teams in the Eastern Conference.
