4. Shabazz Muhammad

About a week after signing a two-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Shabazz Muhammad made his appearance for media day. He had a lot of interesting things to say during his time talking to the media.

He says he had many teams calling him, including the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers. He did say that he was close to signing with the Lakers until he decided that winning was his biggest priority, constantly stating “I want to win”.

Ultimately, he stated that it was a good feeling to be wanted. This came after the fact that he mentioned coaches and players – both new and returning players were constantly calling him to rejoin forces for a “playoff” run.

It was very eye-opening Muhammad said he now weighs 218 pounds, down from 230 last season. He said he hasn’t been this light since his time in high school. Not that it means anything, but Muhammad was a high school phenom, coming out as the number one recruit out entering college.

Muhammad mentioned the Golden State Warriors as something to emulate here in Minnesota when talking about playing small-ball. A faster and stronger player will be a great force at the four-spot. Imagine that… Jeff Teague, Jimmy Butler, Andrew Wiggins, Muhammad, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Bringing Muhammad back will be a great added punch to the much-improved bench.
