Point Guard: Jeff Teague vs. Russell Westbrook

There are only a handful of point guards who could go toe to toe with Russell Westbrook and come out on top.

Unfortunately, Jeff Teague is not one of them.

As anyone who follows the NBA knows, Westbrook became only the second man in NBA history to average a triple-double through the entire season. The other player? Oscar Robertson, of course, during the 1961-62 season. When you put yourself in such elite company, the accolades start rolling in. The biggest one came in the form of the Most Valuable Player award.

The most impressive part, in my eyes, is that he did it with not much talent around. It is almost like with Kevin Durant leaving for Golden State, ‘Brodie’ wanted to prove that it was not just KD and everyone else.

Let’s not push Jeff Teague off to the side like he is just a throwaway piece, either. The former Atlanta Hawk and Indiana Pacer is a borderline top -0 point guard who is still in the prime of his career. He also comes to Minnesota having accomplished an impressive feat: he has not missed the playoffs once in his eight year career.

Teague is coming off of a solid year of his own, having averaged 15.3 points, 7.8 assists, and four rebounds per game with the Pacers. (The rebounds and assists were career-highs, too.) With him coming to a team with the talent the Timberwolves now possess, you can expect him to put up some more career numbers.

But…let’s not fool ourselves. Russ is the better floor general in the battle of the two #0’s.

Winner: Russell Westbrook
