For the 16th consecutive year, the annual NBA.com GM Survey results were released and your boys, the Minnesota Timberwolves, were all over the ballot.
Whether it be a breakout player, best player at a certain position or most improved team, Minnesota was well-represented throughout the entire survey. In total, there were 47 different questions about varying topics from players to teams to the offseason. General Managers weren’t able to vote for their own team.
The biggest player to stand out was Karl-Anthony Towns. He was voted the most likely player to start a franchise player around, most likely to have a breakout season, best center in the NBA and fourth best power forward. In related news, he was also voted the most likely to fly to the moon.

Minnesota as a team was voted to have the third best overall moves of the offseason (Oklahoma City Thunder and the Boston Celtics were ahead of them) and the most improved team in 2017-18.
Most of those votes were accrued due to the acquisition of Jimmy Butler who was mentioned five times throughout this survey. He received 17 percent (second overall) of the votes for the player acquisition to make the biggest impact and 10 percent (third overall) for most underrated player acquisition. He also received votes under the categories Most surprising move of the offseason, best defensive player and best perimeter defender.
Andrew Wiggins also received some love from the GM’s. He received 7 percent (5th overall) of the votes for which player is most likely to have a breakout season. He also received some votes for the most athletic player. Former Timberwolf Zach LaVine came in at third with 10 percent.

Although these surveys mean nothing in the end, it’s nice for Minnesota and their players to receive some much-deserved recognition from a league-wide perspective. If they can live up to the hype, we’ll be in for a great season.
