Center: Karl-Anthony Towns vs. Pau Gasol

As I have said in my previous mid-week matchups, there are very few centers that can compete with Karl-Anthony Towns.

Pau Gasol is not one of them — anymore, that is. In his prime, he was a very valuable piece. First in Memphis, and then with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he helped Kobe Bryant win two championship rings.

Before joining the Spurs, Gasol spent two years in Chicago, including one season under Thibodeau. You might recall that Thibs tried to bring Gasol to Minnesota last summer before ultimately losing out to Popovich and the Spurs in the Gasol sweepstakes.

And he’s far from terrible right now; he is just not at KAT’s level. But, then again, not many players are.

Advantage: Karl-Anthony Towns
