Shabazz Muhammad, or (as he is changing his name legally to) Bazz, moved from last up to ninth this week in the power rankings, but you can put that down to Tyus Jones’ struggles and not Bazz’ play.
Bazz started his first two games for the season in the absence of Jimmy Butler, and it wasn’t pretty.
The Timberwolves were a combined 41 points worse when Muhammad was in the game, and although he dropped a season high 14 points against the Pacers, his shaky defense and below average passing led to him only receiving 12 minutes upon Jimmy Butler’s return against Oklahoma.
At one stage even being replaced by bench rider Marcus Georges-Hunt to guard the final play of the first half in OKC.
A rough start for Bazz, who has shown for all his deficiencies in his career, that he can score. He will need to find that touch quickly, or MGH might not be considered a bench player for much longer.
